The Crunchable.net/work

Colophon and Credits

This site automatically grabs the RSS feeds from all the member sites in the net/work and mashes them together into a single feed, which goes out through our widget, Twitter, Facebook, and our RSS feed. In exchange, all member sites agree to feature the net/work widget on their templates. (More details are in our net/work membership agreement, below.)

The core of this site was programmed in PHP by Chris Klimas, based on a concept by Michael Duck. To parse the RSS feeds it uses MagpieRSS. All design work on the site (XHTML, CSS, and original graphics) is by Michael Duck.

The Crunchable.net/work generates its own custom RSS feed; the site uses Twitterfeed to broadcast that RSS feed's content to Twitter and our Facebook page.

The Crunchable.net/work widget and all pages on this site are valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
Cascading Style Sheets used on this site and in The Crunchable.net/work widget are valid CSS level 2.1.

The net/work membership agreement

The individuals who run the member sites in The Crunchable.net/work agree to the following terms:

  1. The Crunchable.net/work widget must appear on the member site's story or blog post template, so that the widget appears along with all stories or posts on the site. Failure to include the widget on the site may result in the site being rejected from the net/work.
  2. Links to the member site's latest postings are to be broadcast over the entire net/work, generally within no more than two hours. Crunchable.net/work makes no guarantees the postings will be instantaneous. If a post is made in error on the member site and then deleted, it is possible that a link to that post might still go out over the network.
  3. The Crunchable.net/work is a free service. There is no charge for sites to participate in the net/work; member sites will not be compensated financially for the use of their content (i.e., story titles and descriptions created by the member sites).
  4. Because the generation of The Crunchable.net/work's feed is automated, some errors may occur periodically. Individuals who run the member sites are welcome and encouraged to contact eds@crunchable.net when they observe problems.
  5. The editors of the Web magazine Crunchable, which hosts the net/work, will review all sites that apply for net/work membership. Any potential or current member site may be rejected from the net/work at any time for any reason, including but not limited to the following: The posting of defamatory or plagiarized content, the posting of pornographic content, or the violation of any of the terms of this agreement.
  6. The editors of Crunchable do not constantly monitor the net/work feed and are not responsible for member sites' content. Member sites are solely responsible for their content.
  7. Any member site may voluntarily withdraw from the net/work at any time by contacting Crunchable's editors at eds@crunchable.net. There may be a delay of a few days between when that e-mail is sent and when the site is removed from the net/work.
  8. The terms of this agreement may change at any time. When changes are made, the editors of Crunchable will make every effort to notify member sites of any changes as quickly as possible.
